SVC-3C Oxygen-free
Voltammetry cell - for application at low temperature
By using SVC-3C oxygen-free Voltammetry cell, researchers can get
rid of influence of oxygen in the cell by bubbling nitrogen gas, and
also run the experiments at low temperatures.
Features:
For low temperature measurements, three special precautions are
needed:
1. Fluctuation of temperature-dependent reference electrode
potential.
2. Increase of the solution resistance due to a decrease of
supporting electrolyte salt solubility.
3. Incorporation of steam condensation.
Using SVC-3C Voltammetry Cell:
1. Reference electrode is set away by using sample holder.
2. Micro electrode is used for measurement in high resistivity
solution.
3. Cell is closed.

Micro volume cell
MCA Micro cell requires only 50-200 µL of analyst. This is an
advantage for the researchers who need to study a small volume
of sample. Users can select their appropriate working electrodes
from our various CV electrodes.
[How To Use]
- Prepare supporting electrolyte in a cell vial and sample in
the sample holder. Be sure to equalize their electrolyte
concentration.
- Place a counter electrode in the cell vial. When organic
solvent is used, it should be put inside the sample holder to
avoid IR drop at the Vycor glass frit. In that case, please
choose 3 mm diameter of CV electrodes.
- Insert Teflon tube into the cell or the sample holder, purge
N2 gas to eliminate oxygen.

[Reminder]
- To lower electric resistance, please soak the Vycor frit of
sample holder into supporting electrolyte solution at least for
one hour prior to use. These frits need to be kept immersed in
solution all of time.
- If obtained data is shifted, IR drop may be caused. In that
case, please increase the supporting electrolyte as much as five
times or add approximately 0.5 M of NaCl.

Bulk electrolysis cell

This product is utilized for complete electrolysis. As mentioned
below, carbon working electrode is a reticulated form that provides
with sufficient surface area to gain the rate in electrolysis. The
water jacketed cell can be purchased separately. Platinum mesh
electrode is also available as a custom order. The platinum counter
electrode equips a separating chamber. The progress of an
electrolysis can be investigated by inserting additional indicator
electrode (required to be prepared by users themselves). That
insertion requires a port plug when the indicator electrode is not
used.
Suitable for:
- Quantitation of mass transfer of the electron per molecule
- Measuring the absolute quantity of the analyte
- Electrolytic synthesis of new materials (generally in
quantity of milligram)
- etc.

Corrosion flat cell and galvanic cell kit
This Flat Cell kit is dedicated to study flat sample’s corrosion with a surface area of 1 or 10 cm² immersed inside corrosive environment. To fit in the cell, the thickness of the sample has to be inferior to 1 cm. This cell is easy to use and operates with a small sample volume (250 mL).
This corrosion cell is modular and can be modified in order to carry-out galvanic coupling or electrochemical noise (Zero Resistance Ammeter, ZRA) investigations between two different or same samples (the surface area of the samples can be 1 or 10 cm²). This specific cell configuration can be built with the galvanic option.
Regarding Electrochemical Noise investigation, note dedicated Electrochemical Noise Analysis tool is included in EC-Lab ® software. To get a complete galvanic cell kit, the references EL-FLAT and 092-FLAT/1 should be purchased for the 1 cm² configuration and EL-FLAT-2 and 092-FLAT/10 for the 10 cm² configuration.

[ How to Set Up ]
- Place a plate sample on a lower side teflon block of the
cell. Applicable plate dimensions: W: 10-20 mm, T: ~3 mm
- Put another teflon block on the sample, and drive two screws
evenly to fix the plate. Liquid contact area depends on inner
diameter of the O-ring. Deliver approximately 1 mL of electrolyte after fixing the plate.
- Attach a Pt counter electrode and a reference electrode to
the cell by setting them onto a cell cap. We would recommend you
to twist up the Pt part appropriately if the counter electrode
is longer.

Flow cell
Working Electrodes for Flow Cell
Our Working electrodes for flow cell are mounted on blocks of
PEEK. This resin protects the electrodes from external noise and
allows researchers to utilize them regardless the content of mobile
phase of HPLC because of their hard, organic solvent-resistance.
Glassy carbon is usually chosen for the redox reaction study on
liquid chromatography. Platinum, Gold, Carbon paste and Nickel
electrodes are utilized for special purposes.
Features
- Become stable immediately
- Usable with acid, alkaline, and organic solvents
- Easy maintenance of Working electrodes by wipe with acetone
- Working electrodes can be refreshed using PK-3 cell
Polishing Kit

Spectroelectrochemical
cell
Spectroelectrochemistry (SEC) is aimed at the investigation of
electrochemical reaction mechanism and the interface structure
between electrolyte solution and electrode. Remarkable progress in
this field and related technology enables SEC to be applied in wide
areas. Nowadays, the relation between absorbance and potential for
reversible or quasi-reversible system is theoretically elucidated,
on which basis the analysis of electrochemical characteristics
becomes possible for the system otherwise difficult with only the
result of voltammogram. Typical example is redox enzyme cytochrome c
and methylene-blue

- Real-time monitoring of chromatic change by red-ox reaction
- Analysis of the charge transfer at the electrode/liquid
surface
- Spectrometric measurement of near/surface of electrodes
- Absorbing spectrum of the product and intermediate
- Parameters; concentration, diffusion coefficient and life
time

Spectroelectrochemical cell (0.5 mm optical path length)

Thin Layer Quartz Glass Spectroelectrochemical cell Kit
The 0.5 mm optical path length version SEC-C Thin Layer Quartz Glass Spectroelectrochemical cell Kit is a new option for your spectroelectrochemical measurement. The advantage of this new optical path length cell is that, with a 0.5 mm optical path length, you could reduce the electrolysis time, compared with the time necessary when you carried the electrolysis reaction with 1.0 mm optical path length quartz cell.

Quartz cell |

Pt working electrode |
On the left, 0.5 mm and 1.0 mm optical path length quartz cell are shown. On the right, Pt working electrode with the dimension is shown. For 0.5 mm, as for 1.0 mm, you should select the working electrode (Pt or Au) appropriate for your research purpose.
Note: There is a specific working electrode for 0.5 mm optical path length. The working electrode for 1.0 mm optical path length can not be used in 0.5 mm optical path length quartz cell.
Comparison of electrolytic speed in function of optical path length
2 mM potassium ferrocyanide (K4[Fe(CN)6]) was subjected to an electrolysis reaction at 0.6 V until its stability, and 1 M KNO3 was used as a reference. The oxidation reaction was monitored by the comparison of the absorbance in function of the time at wavelengths of 420 and 300 nm.

Contents of PK-3 can be provided separately. In that case, each
polishing pad (A-001040 Alumina polishing pad/A-001041 Diamond
polishing pad) includes 20 pieces of them per the sales unit.
How to polish the Working electrodes' surface with PK-3

- Prepare the glass plate, and put a few drops of polishing
diamond on diamond polishing pad.
- Hold the CV electrode at right angle to the pad, and polish
in a circular motion.
- Replace the diamond pad to an alumina polishing pad, put a
few drops of polishing alumina, and polish the electrode to be
mirror surface. Rinse the electrode surface with distilled water,
and finish by air drying.
Attention: Polishing with PK-3 is the most appropriate way to
clean up electrode surface. Please consult us when other methods
are applied.
Polishing of PFCE Electrode & Pyrolytic Graphite Electrode
PFCE electrode can regain its electrochemical sensitivity and
reproducibility by polishing with Emery paper sic#4000. After the
polishing, please clean its surface with ultrasonic cleaner for
10-60 seconds (@ frequency: 50 kHz, output power: 100 W). PFCE
electrode is a significantly competent electrode. In order to keep
its performance from going to be eroded, we recommend re-polishing
after a certain period of time.
Use of distilled water is required during this procedure.
Sic#2000 grade emery paper is used at the preliminary stage only for
persistent stain.
Notice*
Don't polish with a finer grade of emery paper (#6000 etc.). PFCE electrode do not need mirror finish surface like a GC
electrode.
